This Friday, we will meet with London Underground management to hear details of their proposal for a 4-day working week with a paid meal relief break for train drivers. After the meeting we will share details with reps and members so that you can have your say.
ASLEF have always said that we are prepared to negotiate changes if they deliver real benefits to our members. London Underground drivers are the only ones in the country still to work a 5-day week without a paid meal relief. It is time for that to change.
Although we don’t yet know what the management proposal contains, moving to a 4-day week will mean changes to current working arrangements, and amendments to Trains Council agreements to reflect the new rostering patterns. There is no doubt that some of these changes may be difficult to accept.
Our reps and members will make the decision to either continue working a 5 day week into the future or move forward to agree changes that deliver the 4 day week with an additional rest day every week, that we have long demanded.

ASLEF Pay Claim 2025.
ASLEF have now submitted our pay and conditions claim for 2025. We want to see a pay rise above the RPI rate of inflation, with all pay bands inflated in line with the general rise, as well as pursuing our claims for;
• A 4-day 32-hour week,
• Improvements in travel benefits that at a minimum, equate to a restoration of privilege travel facilities to all staff,
• An increase in the overtime rate,
• An increase in annual leave entitlement,
• A trauma payment for drivers affected by a person under a train incident,
• A commitment to upgrade and improve facilities at all train crew locations, booking on and meal relief points to the standards enjoyed by staff in TfL head office locations.
No dates to start talks have yet been set, but we will be pushing for a quick settlement. Reports will be sent out when we have more information.
ASLEF can only deliver improvments for our members with your active support. Please attend your branch and other update meetings when you can.
